Our team, made up of Brigette Griffin (captain), Sophie Martell & Justice Bosio, won the prestigious 2017 Junior Jug which was held at Half Moon Bay Golf Club (via Cairns) on the 3 - 5 July, 2017. This is the second year running that our junior girls have brought home the Jug.
The Junior Jug is an annual event with low marker junior girls from Golf Districts in Queensland. Six Districts participated this year and the girls competed in 3 days of match play.
Final scores:

Here are the girls' daily reports and match results:
We flew with the Brisbane & District team to Cairns then we drove up to Palm Cove where we have a house. It's about 15 minutes from Half Moon Bay Golf Course, which we had a quick look at, then did the shopping for water & snacks, and dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow morning. Even though it looked like rain, we went onto the jetty to see if the fish were biting. It was a very early start for us all today so we're going to have an early night.
We woke to a rainy day with the temperature in the 20s. We were quite excited for the day ahead as we were actually seeing the course for the first time. Tanya from Half Moon Bay Golf Course met us and walked us through the Club House and also showed us the famous 3rd hole where there is a resident crocodile. It was soon our turn for our practice round and we found that the course was very challenging and naturally beautiful.

After our practice round, we sat down to a wonderful meal, after which all teams were introduced to the girls with their individual GAs and each team presented their mascot and sang their District song. We sat with the Downs & Southern Western Team. The greeting and meeting of the girls within the Districts was wonderful to see, all genuinely excited to see each other but prepared to play competitive golf against each other.
Wish us luck tomorrow - we are playing Brisbane & District in the morning and Gold Coast in the afternoon.
After hours of rain, the team squared Brisbane with 1 win from Justice who was 5 up with 3 to play. Justice also won against Gold Coast, with a fabulous result of a 3/1 win. Sophie, fought hard and squared the match through to the 18th. Overall, the team performed well together and are ready and rested for another great day tomorrow. No crocodiles spotted today, maybe tomorrow.

Wish us luck - we are playing against Downs South Western in the morning and North Queensland tomorrow afternoon.
Results: Monday morning Monday afternoon
The rain cleared and the sun shone. Bridgett & Sophie both brought in wins from the morning matches which gave us 4 points and put us at the top of the league with B&D. The afternoon session gave us a win and a loss and as we write this report, we are awaiting the outcome of the other matches.
Each day of competition, we have been up at 5.00am to be ready to practice by 6.30 at Half Moon Bay. The photo below shows Brigette & Sophie chipping on the 3rd green, adjacent to the home of the crocodile.
Tomorrow we play Far North Queensland who (we hear) are sitting at the top of the leader board. An early night tonight, followed by early morning, and our last match for Junior Jug 2017 gets under way at 7.30am.
Results: Tuesday morning Tuesday afternoon
We were all up and prowling around at 4.30, too excited, nervous, keen to get on with it. So another early start, and more practice before our match against Far North Queensland at 7.30.
Results: Wednesday morning
